John Pucetas is President of SiteTek Financial Arts, Inc.
John is a Registered Architect, a Life Certified Value Specialist (CVS) and a LEED-AP (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional.) He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture from the Ohio State University. He has more than 30 years of experience in facility economics, project management and architectural design in both the public and private sectors.
Following graduation from architecture school in 1976, John apprenticed with several large commercial architectural and engineering firms in eastern Pennsylvania including Day & Zimmerman and Stone & Webster Engineering. He achieved his first license to practice architecture from the State of Pennsylvania in 1983.
John was drawn to the idea of an alternative career in architecture during a temporary assignment with a facilities department of a Northeast public utility company. The corporate architect said one day, “There are ways to use your creativity as an architect other than designing buildings.” This inspired John to begin exploring alternative ways of applying his creative abilities, and ultimately resulted in the consulting work he does today.
In 1985, he accepted a transfer to Tempe, Arizona, as Vice President of a 10-person branch office of a Pennsylvania-based architectural firm. He received his Arizona registration in architecture in 1986 which remains current today.
In 1988, John redirected his career from private architectural practice to public sector agency project management. For the next five years, he served as the owner’s project representative for managing bond-funded construction projects for Arizona State University and the City of Scottsdale.
In 1993, John joined the Phoenix office of the SmithGroup in its Facility Economics Group focusing on Value Engineering (VE) and other life-cycle aspects of facility ownership. He was mentored by Dr. Stephen Kirk, receiving formal VE training and earning the Certified Value Specialist (CVS) designation from the Society of American Value Engineers (SAVE) in 1997. Since then John has facilitated multi-disciplined VE workshops throughout the country.
John continued his full-time VE career with the Phoenix office of Rider Hunt Levett & Bailey as Manager of Value Engineering. It was here where he first became involved in “quantity surveying” and its application in the valuation of historic and unique structures. He served as Project Manager for the reproduction cost analysis of the assets at the south rim of Grand Canyon National Park for Xanterra Parks and Resorts. This was the first major concession contract to be renewed by the National Park Service in over 30 years.
With this body of knowledge, experience and the desire to be a “different kind of architect,” John founded SiteTek Financial Arts in 2002.
